Do you consider drug prevention important? But how can one reach the young people while they are enjoying their well deserved holidays? Narconon Hungary found an excellent solution: Go where people are vacationing. In the summer it is definitely the famous Balaton lake, which is the right place to go!

After several months of preparations with the help of Csaba Lazar, a marketing professional, a plan got born which did not only managed to attract the attention of the children but also helped the NARCONON organization and its activities to be more known.

The realization of the Narconon Hungary project started on July 18th at the 40th Anniversary Blue Ribbon Prize, which is one of Europe’s sailing boat races. Among the 575 starters was the ship, LCS Marketing Diamond, with a sail decorated with a huge NARCONON logo!

“The tasks of our foundation first started after the race. One of our drug education lecturers, Peter Marton boarded the Diamond Ship at Fonyod city to get the drug prevention program started. From Fonyod we sailed down to the children camps at Balatonfenyves, amongst others to a camp which took care of children who have had a special hard life. MORE THAN HUNDRED young people have listened to our drug education lecture including camp leaders”,- Director of Narconon Hungary reported to us

One teacher was very interested in such kind of drug prevention program. She offered Narconon Hungary to help make future similar programs more colourful next time!

“After the lecture we have invaded the NARCONON ship and together with the children we left for a little sailing. This in itself was an experience, especially for those children who had never sailed before! The days were full of happiness and fun!

Next day Narconon Hungary participated in the Balaton swimming race which since several years is considered to be a tradition. At 7 am the Narconon vessel sailed out with full supplies for the swimming contesters counting 10.000 people. Thanks to the tremendous amount of help Narconon gave, Narconon won “the most popular ship of the neighbourhood” title! – And of course all this happened while the huge NARCONON banner were flapping in the wind.

With such victories the several days long NARCONON-BALATON 2008 drug education program finished. Hundreds of people got to know the drug education lectures of Narconon based on L. Ron Hubbard scientific researches related to drugs. People got to know how mental and physical addiction develops and how one’s personality gets changed due to the effect of drugs.

Our heroes do not stop on that point. The show will go on as they got many invitations to continue drug education adventures around the country!
