Useful information about world wide activity against drugs and statistics.

Often staffs of Narconon get questions concerning drug trends, statistics and current situations on the drug scene. Staffs of Narconon do get some information from their clients but sometimes it is needed to get more factual data. It can therefore be of help to have some sources of information which can be used when you need such data. We have gathered some places on the Internet where you might be able to find answers to your questions.

Each year the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) issues a report over the current drug situation and trends all over the world. Their main office is located in Wien in Austria but they have also office in Bruxelles. For those who need good statistics on how many drug-users there are in a country or area their homepage and reports give you valuable and useable data. Their homepage is www.unodc.org, and it is easy to find around to the thing you are especially interested in.

They have gathered a list over many NGOs (Non Government Organisations) which work with drug rehabilitation and prevention. A good list to have especially if you are looking for some you would like to invite to your events or conferences.

Both Narconon International and Narconon Europe are on their list. - You find it here: http://www.unodc.org/ngo/

Europe has also a huge organisation that try to gather all kind of data from the various EU countries.

The name of that organisation is the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). It is established by the European Union in 1993 and is located in Lisbon in Portugal.

Of special interest is their newly issued report for 2007 which was released the 22. November 2007 and exists in 13 local languages. Here you can see statistics and data for your country. They even have it as a powerpoint presentation for download in case you need some of their data for a lecture.

A private organisation that many times has had a good relation to Narconon and knows our work well is European Cities Against Drugs ECAD. They have a homepage which gives links to local associations of their organisations. You can find them here: http://www.ecad.net/

Note: They also have a homepage in Russia.
