 Life with drug addict person – what is it? It is something that is better not to experience. Unfortunately in our present world many people encountered this problem. Also a current staff member of Narconon Ekaterinburg – Ekaterina Kachusova. She wrote her life history before she joined Narconon. Maybe it gives somebody a chance to change a life!

” My relationship with Pavel started very beautifully, like every girl likes to have it- flowers, dating, and smiles. Unfortunately it finished very soon. From the beginning I knew he used drugs, but it was very rarely, so it didn’t break our relationship. I thought it is not a problem, but I was wrong. Step by step Pavel started to use drugs more and more often; at the end it was routinely several times per day! The 8-th year of his drug addiction was where the real difficulties came from!

We didn’t communicate much, he often went away from house, and I couldn’t trust him anymore. Everything he promised me was a lie; he all the time found new excuses to his actions. Everything he said or did finally created destruction for me, himself and our family.

His thoughts were only about drugs. Heroin stood in the first and the only place in his life!

I remembered nights without sleep, when he tried to fight with physical symptoms and drop drugs but drugs always won. Despite everything he went and took drugs. I saw he had overdoses… I couldn’t and didn’t want to leave him, I loved him too much to let him die! First I tried to talk to him, ask him, threaten him, but it didn’t help; right after he promised everything began again.

It continued and continued… He went away for a dose, and I was waiting for him at home, thinking whether he comes back or if I saw him alive the last time…

That time I already have been many times at the funerals of our fellows who died of drugs. This life drove me crazy; I thought it is easier to start to use drugs myself and not to see all this horror. I guess that is what would have happened if we didn’t come to Narconon Ekaterinburg.

Here in Narconon I have calmed down, I knew there wouldn’t be any drug use, he is always under control. While he was doing the Narconon program I also finished some courses there because his addiction made a big effect on me! And these courses helped me to rebuild myself:

I became more relaxed, bad thoughts and anxiety didn’t bother me anymore. The best thing that has happened is that Pavel not only stopped to use drugs, but we also started to communicate with each other again, it was good to be together again, he started to create positive goals in life, he changed very fast to a better side of his. He stopped lying. I saw in his eyes -he wanted to live!!! He wanted to do something for the family, for himself and for society.

I suddenly wanted to do something good, so other people’s life would change to the better, and now I work in Narconon Ekaterinburg where my husband did the program. When you know about drug addiction, not from talks, and you know there is a way to handle it, then you want to help others. I know for sure that there is a way out of drugs! Now Pavel found a good job that he likes and we are creating a happy family.

You know, now when we have another life I am thinking, it is so good that at the moment when it seemed our lives could be destroyed we came to Narconon and everything changed! This is a miracle!”
